-was a slow start but it became super successful
-did not have enough money to stock the entire store
-they used empty containers to make the store look full
-everyone was broke
-trained their employees and paid them well
-the first year they lost almost 1 million dollars
-by the end of the second year they started making profit
-in its first 20 years it grew faster than any other industry including walmart
-they encouraged customers to do large progects
-in 1986 their sales toped $1 billion
-their main competitor was lowes
-hired a new CEO because they need to solve the problems
-became a very successful company
