Mike Kind (the last lecture)

-2 months ago his apraisal business started to slow down so he decided to try something new
-it was a garbage truck sales site
-he got an offer for 15 trucks
-he flew out to new york to get the trucks together

-flew to miami to deal with all the trucks
-flew to Panama City to learn how to work the trucks
-he made a huge amount of money on selling these trucks and has a bunch more to sell
-he started up this business for under $2000 and made alot of money
-found out that people were wanting to buy trucks were from other countries
-got a person who speacks fluent spanish to make their business international
-take what you have and take it to a developing country
-focus on internet on global and on developing countries

Hershey

-Milton Hershey was know as the chocolate king
-His father had many ideas but many of them never happened because he didn't have enough money or perseverence
-Milton had ideas as well but had more perserverence and more money so he got into the chocolate business
-got into the cany business when he was 18 years old
-stuggled for many years to be successful at the candy business
-he eventually started to do well and he made more money
-started to expand and make more plants
-decided to get into chocolate and said it would do better than caramel which he thought was just a fad
-made tons of money of chocolate and was the henry ford of the chocolate industry

-the country was all about getting healthy
-he never wanted to be a doctor
-he becam a vegetarian when he was 14 years old
-joined a church and they encouragedhim to be a doctor
-got his doctors segree in 2 years
-he worked at a place that was called the sanitarium
-this place was very similar to nowday spas
-he came up with many devices to help people relax
-he believed eating meat was a sin
-made many thing to make people get healthier
-their greatest achievment was making corn flakes
-many people started to make healthy cereals
-he did many things in his life to help people
-he was a very smar person

-he realize that he had become detatched from his employees
-after 911 they got their workers new jobs and this gave them very loyal employees

-went through bankrupcy in the 1990's but made tons of money again
-wanted to become the best of the best
-his father was his mentor
-education was really helpful

-he is dislexic but that never stopped him from achieving his goals

-you have to work to achieve lots

Herb Kelleher
-started an airline business
-kept all their planes the same size so it would be cheaper to make and everyone would know how how to fly fix and opperate them

-was the person who made popcorn big
-started out with just a popcorn stand
-it was a hard market but he kept to it
-face the risk and learn from your failures

-was the starter of Starbucks
-the original starbucks didn't want to make coffee so he started up his own company
-he eventually made enough money to buy starbucks for 3.8 million dollars

-founder of Microsoft
-started off just making programs because he love doing it
-droppped out of school to run his own business
-worth $54 Billion
-kept his eyes open for oppertunities

-quit highschool to work as a book keeper

-when he died he was the richest man in the world
-his lifetime goal was to make $100,000 which he deffinately achieved
-all his companies were very successful
-refined the oil business to make it so there was less waste

-created the Ford company which was a very successful assembly line
-his mother died but he didn't want to work on the farm so he started working on automotive engines

-wanted to create a place for families to come
